Karen Custer Thurston wins Multiple Writing Awards for the 18th annual Travelers Tales solas awards

I am thrilled to announce some exciting news! I’ve recently won the Bronze Award for two short travel stories I wrote about backpacking in Nepal. Both of my short travel stories placed in the esteemed 18th Annual Travelers Tales Annual Solas Travel Writing Awards.

I could not have won these awards without the writing guidance and superb editing by Rachel Sarah Thurston of State Of Sparkle, Author Coaching.

We recently celebrated my win when Rachel was visiting me this summer. It's an especially fun "win" for both of us because two of her travel stories were published with Travelers Tales anthologies many years ago in What Color Is Your Jockstrap (edited by Jennifer L. Leo) and More Sand In My Bra (edited by Julia Weiler and Jennifer L. Leo).

This now officially makes us a mother-daughter Super Nova Travelers Tales Duo!

The two stories I submitted won Bronze awards for 2024 in the following categories:

⭐ Elder Travel: “Haunting Eyes” by Karen Custer Thurston
